Course Content

Topics to covered under this course include philosophy of social science, qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods research; research design, theory building (deductive vs., inductive theory), empirical research and epistemological considerations research process and academic writing skills; literature research and library use; quantitative techniques: research design, organizing, gathering and analysing quantitative, qualitative and mixed methodology data. 

 

Expected learning outcomes

The student will be able to:

*Demonstrate understanding of the fundamentals of qualitative and quantitative research, and use the knowledge to conduct research

*Apply the elements of a “good” qualitative and quantitative  to improve organizational practice 

*Apply the knowledge of validity, reliabilityand  ethical issues in educational leadership governance research

*Collect good data, analyse and interpret the data to write a good research report.
